A new chapter

For the first time, I am launching a portfolio website.

Being a freelancer has been the most rewarding part of my career. It started from a traumatising employment that almost ended with a lawsuit, when I promised myself to have more self-respect and to seek a healthy work environment and life balance. At this point, I was 23.

I accidentally became self-employed. After being layed off, I had time to use my gained and practiced skills to kick start my own project, the climate podcast, with my best friend. Then, somebody recommended me for a conference job, short term. And similar work started coming in. I thought “Wow, this is great, I have time to create, travel and work at the same time, without compromising!”.

Eventually, I saw a job advert for a production assistant role at ABBA Voyage. It was only for 5 months, and I thought I had to get this job - basically, all I have been working towards in my life was now here. This was the job for me, I knew I could do it and I knew I was going to enjoy and learn from it. Almost two years later now and I get to work with a bunch of extraordinary people in the industry, on different projects around the world.

My career began when I was 15, picking trash at a Depeche Mode stadium show in Bucharest. I was a volunteer for more or less 4 years. At the time, I wanted to have fun, go to gigs, meet people and rebel against my family. And I did all of that. But most importantly, I used that time to learn about the business, the attitude and make connections.

Freelancing showed me what having real free time means, and in fact finding a balance between earning an income and doing my own work and exploration. My chaotic energy has finally been tamed, in an unusual way. When I work, I am focused on delivering. When I “free time”, I am focused on myself.

I aim to use this portfolio for my personal initiatives as well. A kaleidoscope of photography, stories from adventures, work of other creatives and collaborations will be displayed and shared, in the hope that connections will be made, to initiate impact and a change of perspective in others. Or simply to enjoy small details in life.
